Why ‘Project Pan’ Should Not Only Be A Trend, But A Lifestyle

Around this time last year, I had made it a personal mission to become very picky about my style and the products I decided to incorporate into my personal life. Above all, I wanted to truly use about my products before going out and buying a new one simply because it was trending or I felt the urge of “needing” the item.

This was all before ‘Project Pan’ took off. Project Pan is essentially the concept of using all of your products before venturing out to buy a new one. And more than ever, I have seen so many people begin to partake in this very rewarding and conscious trend.

The thing is, I truly believe that self identification and the eco consciousness of a person can become lost because of the need to consume. The market doesn’t sell us to buy a product - it sells us for the need to feed into the consumerism loop. It is as if - if you’re not a consumerist you aren’t totally a part of society in a way.

Moreover, going back to becoming picky about the products and materialistic things I purchase - I have noticed a keen understanding of what I like and dislike. Whether that material of the product doesn’t sit right on my skin, if the material is as close to being 100% cotton or not, if the brand is eco conscious, or on the other hand - if the brand derives more to fast fashion and asking myself if I were to use their product over and over again until I wear it down. Same with skin products. I now know what scents, formulas and brands I take into account for that works for my skin and needs.

I find that when you venture off from what is trending and begin to see the loop of humans’ attention to trends - the marketing schemes become less fooling; and more so of a joke. Conscious consumerism is fundamental - following trends is a detriment to intentionality.

Here are some people and brands that have a special place in my heart for Project Pan and are leading examples!

“These are my recent obsession - reusable eye patches! Less waste and they can be reused with any products (serums, moisturizer, etc). They are called “the forever eye mask” by DIEUX.”

- Alexa Crosby

“My go to product I have been repeatedly buying is UA body Hawaii’s Lilikoi Coconut Body Lotion! It is Earth friendly, cruelty free, vegan and sustainable! If you like to shop local, this product is a perfect brand and it smells like you’re on vacation!”

- Macy Rojas

“My favorite hair care brand! California Naturals has something for everyone and their hair care/body care variety just keeps on growing! It is all affordable but feels luxurious. All clean ingredients and is a lifestyle brand that aims for clean and natural ingredients.”

I urge everyone to implement Project Pan within their lifestyle. It is a habit that is foundational to our eco conscious decisions, individuality and consumerist ideals. Trends are not forever - but our small decisions of what products we buy and invest into are.

All my love,

Brejette Nepa
